Around a week ago it was announced on the Incremental Games subreddit that when it releases, Clicker Heroes 2 is 30 dollars. This is a lot of money for an idle game, so I wonder, how much would you pay for an idle game?
Read the thread on Reddit here:
The game shown in the video is Remaya Idle. Check it out on Steam if you want, but I’d recommend against it:

05.06.2022I really supported the devs and the work they've been putting into the game,
But THIS? 30$ for a Idle game?
There's no way I'll even consider paying for it.

05.06.2022Rewatching this video after clicker heroe's 2 beta release date announced. When they released an update for the original CH (clicker heroes) I believe v.1.10 ? It reset my progress and I had the same concern that you mention however it only reset that ascencion without entirely resetting the game and it supplied significant reward for the trouble. I wasn't expecting the public to have access to the beta when I watched your video last time but now I think maybe they were only referring to updates during the game's initial development and after first release, progress resets will no longer be an issue. This is all just speculation but hey, they seem to have the player's experience first and foremost so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

05.06.2022The only idle game i've ever seen that i was willing to pay for was space plan, and thats because it has a story and personality, every other idle game i saw so far wouldn't vê something i'd pay for

05.06.2022I loved Clicker Heroes, and Clicker Heroes 2 looks so much better – it's actually a game now, where you plan out a path and make a nice 'Opus Magmun'-esque mini-game with the Automator. I pre-ordered at the first moment I could. It's only 2hours of work at most anyways. I've never bought any Microtransactions either, btw

05.06.2022i would pay max $10 but since i loved clicker heroes 1 i will pay $30 for clicker heroes 2

05.06.2022I bought Clicker Heroes 2. Why? Original. Deep. Programming-ish vibes, and I dont have anything else to spend 30$ on
Shadow Wolf
05.06.2022The game in this video is no longer being made by the dev. Not sure why though.
If this is going to cost, $30 then that to me is far too expensive for a clicker game. The most I'd pay for a clicker game is $5. A triple A game back in the 90's called Roller coaster Tycoon cost me half as much as CH2 does, if that is the price they are going with, and it was just as great as Rollercoaster Tycoon, the original CH anyways.
Since I can wait patiently until the game goes on steam sale, I'll just wait until it goes down under 60%, then I'll buy the game. $30 is far too much for me.
I am glad they have a conscience though, and I'm happy they are changing the model they are working with. EA/Zenimax/Ubisoft should learn something from them. You don't need to feed an addiciton to be a great game.
I've played Idling to Rule the Gods and played for over 4.9K hours and Clicker Heroes 1 for over 800 hours. I haven't bought one single thing in the games themselves because to me it will just waste my money I could spend on more important things, like rent, food, Electric, Heating, air-conditioning and water. These things are essential and non-optional just like food and life.

05.06.2022Some see it as pocket change, while others are addicted. I see it as a waste of my time.

05.06.2022yep I was so ready to play CH 2 but when I went to the site and saw it was 30$ I pretty much gave up on it

02.06.2022I own clicker heros 2 and IT'S NOT A FUCKING IDLE GAME YOU DUMB SHITS!!!! You make little to no progress at all without actively playing the actual game…. even if you had EVERYTHING automated you would still need to select what world to play and start it MANUALLY and worlds only last a few hours max…. CH2 is an RPG get over it.
James 1249
02.06.2022L would pay 1-3 dollar

02.06.2022found this video looking for more strat videos on clicker heros 2. I paid $30 and I love it. It might not be worth 30 in its current state for some people, but give it time and I think it will be worth it even for people who don't absolutely love idle games.

02.06.2022CH2 is better than any other clicker, that's why.
Catflap
02.06.2022It'll be on sale every other week, and it's good to not have microtransactions. I think it'll be worth the money if you like those games, and it helps fund the devs. They have spent a long time on clicker heroes 1 for free so I think they deserve some money.
I think they actually put effort into their game as well, they don't just use the same basic ideas but actually make a fun game.

02.06.2022You pay 30$ to get the game in early release. Not to get the real game
Bo Mackn
02.06.2022I would pay $50+ for any single player game with sufficient content, with no game play effecting internal purchases.
I am strongly against the free2play lifestyle.
This game has a lot of content already, and what it looks like is coming? This is totally worth it. – I am playing it right now.
Too many games are made for the purpose of making money rather than to make a genuinely good game. Obviously an upfront price doesn’t make the game quality, but IAPs are definitely linked to greed of the developer/marketer.

02.06.2022Would not pay a cent
Marc-André Lavoie
02.06.2022You forgot to mention that the dev guaranteed a full 100% refund of your $30 up to a year after your purchase. 1 year guarantee sounds pretty good to me. So yeah it's expensive and you don't know if it's gonna be good or suck but hey if you don't like it, ask for a refund.

02.06.2022I spent over $100 on in-app purchases in Tap titans 2 but I only started spending some months after I started playing. By then I knew what I was paying for and that I was supoorting the devs of a game I like. Clicker heroes 2 for $30? I'll nope out of that, especially since I didn't like the first game too much. Maybe they'll bring some trial period, that would at least convince me to try the game.

31.05.2022I can't understand the amount of people complaining about the price of this game, looks light years ahead of other clicker games in terms of quality

31.05.2022Its come out and the game is 100% worth it

31.05.2022i dont get why people spent so much money in Clicker heros just because you can rewrite the config and give you everything for free LOL

31.05.2022I really wouldn't call this an idle game.. Reason I say this cause you have to constantly control your char. buy equipment just to advance.. Even if you go to new world same thing. And when you go off your still at same spot when you go back on the game. Like I said. Clicker hero 1 is an idle game. You can go off and come back in a week and you made progress/bank.. clicker hero 2 you have to be there whole time to progress and upgrade. So my opinion the company tired to make this game an active game that you have to play yourself.
SoulGame
31.05.2022I love the reasoning of Playsaurus regarding how they prefer upfront price rather than F2P. I'm sharing the same philosophy (with the slight difference that, unlike them, I actually apply it… and never added micro transaction to my games). But what I'm confused about is the price tag. I could pay $10 for Clicker Heroes. Or I could wait for $5 sales. But $30 is just a way of saying "We know yall in love with our game, we know you gonna pay for it anyway, fuck your wallet". That's really not very classy.
i can make a long username so i will ya like memes
31.05.2022So you pay $30 to do nothing rlly

30.05.2022While I personally would never pay $30 bucks for a Clicker game, I do understand their reason for doing this. They never expected the original game to make as much money as it did, and specifically they felt bad about the people dumping hundreds of money into it each month. While the game was free to play, and they need to make money to run their business, they actually ended up having a moral dilemma. It seemed that they were exploiting addiction in gambling. And that it ended up being a huge factor in deciding to make the 2nd game cost a set amount upfront. Instead of trying to milk money out of people month to month in a free to play, it felt more moral to charge an upfront fee and not allow the players to dump more money into it after that. So if in fact they stick with a one time fee, no loot boxes/upgrades/micro-transactions etc, then I fully support that moral business model.

30.05.2022Had this pop up on my youtube recommended feed. I wonder, a year later, what your thoughts on clickerheroes 2 is?
It occurs to me, there is room for massive growth in the genre. Realm grinder, idle champions of the forgotten coast. both have a small about of tactical play.
But, at the same time. I know you have played Rimworld. Oxygen not included. sim city, cities skylines, factorio, planet coaster, etc..
Think about that really for a bit. you set up a layout, set the game to 3x speed, and let your dupes/sims/etc go about executing your commands, and IDLE collecting taxes/resources, etc.
Is factorio not in essence, a idle game? managing efficiency? These games are essentially the SAME thing, coming at each other from the opposite direction.
Instead of just single click upgrades, these clickers need to start creating complex automation systems like Factorio/oxygen not included. Building your exponential grinder, should be about setting up more efficient systems.
At the same time, look at something like Path of exile. In a way, this TOO is a grinder. everyone thaty plays PoE is well aware of the grind. rng on loot etc. And in FACT, many builds, are all about creating automation. autobombers, etc. actual play is often mindless, run to pack, instantly kill pack, run to next pack… that could be done via a idle game… An idle game that runs from pack to pack. and YOUR job is to pick the best loot, from skill games, to supports, etc. PoEs loot, and skill system in an idle grinder.
clicker heroes 2 doesnt look like its that complex. but it could be. and a $30 idle game could exist if it did these things.

30.05.2022You better get 3 copies of Terraria and have fun with your friends…

30.05.2022A clicker game that can keep your entertained for thousands of hours, not worth 30$? IMAX movie ticket costs 15$, over in 2 hours. Night out drinking, prolly more expensive than 30$. If the game nets you 4 hours of entertainment it's as valueable as going to the movies or a night out in town.

30.05.202230$ seems to much
i've spent 5-20$ some month on MMOs but never on idle games
don't know if it would break production multipliers

30.05.2022iv tried it… it seems like its constantly new aftwe a bit to me so i think its ok.. then again someone said in the comments here (and ill quote them here) "You didn't seem to mention that the game is refundable up to year of its release." so it seems like it should be fine!

29.05.2022Sometimes, I feel like the only fan of idle games, who was never drawn to Clicker Heroes.
I've tried to get into it like… Thrice, but it just doesn't connect, you know.

29.05.2022I think better questions to ask are 1) How much would you pay for a clicker game from a developer you know or for a new release of a game you already liked and 2) How much would you be willing to pay up front for an unknown game from an unknown developer?
My reasoning is that people who have already played Clicker Heroes know they like the game so they would probably be more willing to pay up front for it than for a game they haven't tried from a developer they don't know.
I think in the genre there is probably room for both models. This makes room for well established developers with well known and liked games to charge a decent up front fee but also leaves space for new developers to offer a game for free and still make some income for their work through micro transactions.

29.05.2022I'm a bit late to the party, but i thought they made it pretty clear that after the game was officially released they would not reset progress, just during the testing phase.
