I love that Lady Grey is so over the top bitchy noblewoman it only took her two seconds of looking at her to nail down her personality perfectly with "MHMMHM I'M LADY GREYY"
well, in fable you could look as trustworthy or as untrustworthy as you want. want to be full evil with horns , red eyes and red aura but be cheered by townsfolk and loved by any who looks at you? put some good aligned tatos and clothes. want to be saint with nimbus and buterflies but be look so evil and scary that townsfolk screams and runs for their lives upon seeing you moving in their direction or bandits cheering at you and falling to knees begging for their lives when you take your weapon? puts some scary and evil tatos and clothesits what seen on outside. want to lead regular bandits raids to Oakvile? you can . then flip the script and "heroicaly" save the town from evil bandits? you can
3:33 that's a stylistic choice, almost nothing to do with the graphics Fable never strived to be realistic, it's meant to be cartoony, so weird proportions are expected
Games used to be made for fun. "wouldn't it be fun if you could… yeah put it in"
Now people make games because they aren't good enough to get into hollywood. So they make games just to have something for the resume and a paycheck. So they make schlock.
90% of the Fable fanbase will probably crucify me for saying this but Fable 2 is one of my favourite games of all time and the best in the series, however I do still love Fable 1 and have a soft spot in my heart for it because it was one of the first games I ever played. A fantastic series that I'd recommend to anyone, especially if you enjoy Monty Python.
'Perfidious Albion' is a long standing expression of how we feel about our Great Brittain friends. First thing that popped into my head when I heard Albion. Your general knowledge is pretty good. Less drinks for us.
If you think the choices in this game are crazy, you should see what the game director CLAIMED you were going to be able to do in the marketing before release.
There are still games keeping the tradition of allowing the player to dowhatever they want alive, a recent example would be something like Elden Ring letting you murder whoever you want, and having even fewer ramifications than in previous games.
The amount of "freedom" a game gives you tends to depend on how intricate its story and mechanics are. After all, if you give players an option to make a choice, you need to program the consequences of that choice into the game. This typically either leads to one of two situations: either choices need to be limited to that which the game can account for (call it the Mass Effect method), or you need to limit the impact of choices outside of the story (call it the GTA method).
Older games had more freedom because, well, they tended not to have super intricate stories, so letting people just randomly murder bystanders was fine- you just made it not matter to the story aside from moving some points around on a morality meter. But people demand better writing these days, so you can't quite get away with that anymore.

01.02.2023So, when it comes to modern games and choices:

This typically either leads to one of two situations: either choices need to be limited to that which the game can account for (call it the Mass Effect method), or you need to limit the impact of choices outside of the story (call it the GTA method).
